  • Hi I'm David Dubail owner of Dubail Fitness Institute in Miami, Florida. In this clip I am going to show you how to use exercise bands. Exercise bands can be picked up anywhere, at any store, you can order them on the internet, pretty much anywhere. Any sporting goods store will have it for you. Ok and there's always different levels. So they'll have beginner, medium and they are usually different colors and they have advanced. The more advanced the more resistance you are going to get. Now these can be hooked up, really anywhere. You can start with just stepping on it and hitting a bicep curl. Really you can train the whole body on these. This is how you would perform a squat. You would put both feet in it, hold it up like it's the bars on your shoulders and just squat straight up and down. You can go into a shoulder press. Down. And the other thing you can do other then just standing on it to resist it, is really hook it up to any solid stationary object. Ok it has to be fully grounded and it's not going to move. Bam you can hit back, you spin around you can work pecs. It's great if you travel a lot, you can break it out in the hotel room, you really get a good work out. I just hit presses and mix it up. But really it's invaluable and you can really do anything you want with the bands, it's a great exercise piece. Once again it's been David Dubail thanks for watching.

Learning how to use exercise bands can be an excellent addition to your workout routine. An exercise band, or resistance band, is a rubber tubing or flat band used for strength training. When you use these bands your body encounters a resistance that is greater than normal.

  • Hi, I'm Sara Kapuchinski, owner of i heart fitness. Today we're going to talk about how to use exercise bands without handles. So using resistance bands without handles is pretty simple. You're going to use it in a very similar fashion. Resistance bands without handles come in many different levels of resistance ranging from light to heavier. So you want to really just make a point of knowing what type of resistance you're looking for. Most packs you can find come in three packs from light medium to heavier resistance. I like to fold my band in half to create more resistance depending on what muscle group I'm working. For our purposes today, I'm going to do a bicep curl and a couple of arm exercises. I'm going to unravel my band, hook it around the arches of my feet and then cross it to increase the resistance, holding it in my hands and our bicep curl. So I'm seated tall on my sits bones, yeah, my feet are flexed, providing me more resistance, elbows are at my side. I'm just going to bicep curl up, hold, contract the bicep, squeezing the muscle to the bone and then release. I'm going to bicep curl, hold, squeeze and then reluctantly release, again bicep curl, squeeze, keeping core in tight, seated tall on my sits bones. Now I can also do a couple of other exercises here, palms facing in to one another, tight grip on the band, I'm going to row backwards, good. I'm going to row backwards, again seated tall on my sits bones, spreading my collarbone wide, keeping my core stable. Row backwards, squeezing my shoulders down into the lats in my back, some of the largest muscles on the body by the way. The larger the muscle, the more calories burned, just a little hot tip. Squeeze back, exhale, breath, inhale, release. I'm Sara Kapuchinski, owner of i heart fitness. Thanks for joining us today as we talked about how to use exercise bands without handles.
